Collaborating Organization:

NPL AARAYAN SEEDS Private Limited

This project was conducted in collaboration with NPL AARAYAN SEEDS Pvt. Ltd., which provided foundation seed material and technical support for seed production under field conditions.

Objectives:

  • To provide students with hands-on training in the scientific seed production of vegetable-type cluster bean.
  • To educate students on certified seed production protocols including land preparation, sowing, rouging, and quality maintenance.
  • To familiarize students with post-harvest operations such as seed extraction, drying, cleaning, grading, and storage.
  • To prepare students for careers in agri-enterprises and seed industries through real-time field exposure.

Abstract:

The Vegetable Cluster Bean Seed Production project was initiated to train students in the certified seed production of vegetable cluster bean through practical, field-based learning. Conducted in collaboration with NPL AARAYAN SEEDS Pvt. Ltd., the project focused on introducing students to modern seed production techniques aligned with quality assurance protocols.

From land preparation and sowing to harvesting and seed processing, students were involved at every stage, allowing them to apply classroom learning to real agricultural environments. Emphasis was placed on maintaining genetic purity, isolation distance, and use of eco-friendly inputs.

This live field project created a platform for bridging theoretical instruction with hands-on practice, helping students develop industry-relevant skills in seed production, quality management, and sustainable agriculture.

Outcome:

  • Students acquired complete field-level training in the seed production of vegetable-type cluster bean.
  • Gained practical knowledge of maintaining certified seed standards, including isolation, rouging, and purity checks.
  • Understood seed testing parameters such as germination rate, seed moisture, and health.
  • Built competencies for agri-entrepreneurship and employment in the seed production and agri-input industries.
  • Strengthened institutional ties with industry, enhancing practical learning and technical training.
