General Information

Dr. Deepak D. Sharma is a skilled researcher in Genetics and Plant Breeding with a strong academic background. He earned his Ph.D. from N. M. College of Agriculture, NAU, Navsari, and cleared the ASRB-ICAR NET exam. His Ph.D. research focused on hybrid rice, where he studied novel germ-plasm to identify and validate restorer genes for different CMS sources. He successfully characterized the RF4 gene and developed promising restorer and non-restorer lines, contributing to CMS line development. His expertise includes Plant Breeding, Hybrid Technology, Molecular Breeding, Marker-Assisted Selection, Gene Sequencing, Bioinformatics, and Gene Expression Studies. With two years of experience in research and academics, he is actively involved in multiple projects dedicated to student development. He has published seven research papers, four book chapters, and eight articles. He is currently working as a Research Coordinator for the institute as well.
