AWARD AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

1. Best Ph. D. Thesis Award (2023): Best Ph.D. thesis award was provided to Dr. Kalpesh Vaghela at 5th International Conference on Global Insight on Research and development in Agriculture, Horticulture and Allied Sciences at G. H. Raisoni University, Saikheda (MP).

2. SHODH- ScHeme of Developing High Quality Research Scholarship (2019): Dr. Kalpesh Vaghela was awarded with a stipend for SHODH- ScHeme of Developing High Quality Research Scholarship, Government of Gujarat.

Profile

A truly exceptional person, Dr. Kalpesh S. Vaghela has a strong background in academia and extensive experience conducting research in horticulture, with a focus on vegetable science. He earned his Master's degree from B. A. College of Agriculture, AAU, Gujarat, and completed his Doctorate from ASPEE College of Horticulture and Forestry, NAU, Navsari. In 2019, he achieved an ASRB-ICAR NET exam. His research endeavours encompass a wide array of fields including Vegetable Cultivation, Seed Production, Vertical Farming, Hydroponics, Landscaping & designing, Orchard Management, Post-harvest Management and Agri-voltaic Farming.

Dr. Kalpesh has made a major contribution to the onion research area during his doctoral studies by carrying out a thorough investigation into the geometric spacing and varietal evaluation of onions. His research resulted in the study of onions' chemical properties during harvest and storage period. In addition to his doctoral research, Dr. Kalpesh conducted significant studies during his master's degree, with keeping his focus on onion. He investigated organic, inorganic and bio-fertilizer application on growth and yield of onion. His research efforts ultimately led to the discovery of the optimal organic, inorganic, and biofertilizer treatment combination, which promises maximum yields with high nutritional value.

Beyond research, Dr. Kalpesh vaghela actively engages in academic activities, including delivering lectures on various courses such as Post-Harvest Management and Value Addition of Fruits and vegetables, Farming System and Sustainable Agriculture, Introduction to Forestry, Technology of Fruits, Vegetables and Crops and Technology of Cereals, Pulses and Oil seeds. He has numerous projects under him as Co-PI, PI and as mentor. His passion for teaching and research is evident in his commitment to fostering overall student’s development. Moreover, he has contributed to the scholarly literature with many publications, further solidifying his reputation as a prolific researcher in the field of Horticulture. His dedication, qualifications and teaching abilities make him a valuable asset to GUNI-KKIASR.
