Profile

Dr. Sarju Thokchom is an accomplished researcher and academic in the field of Agricultural Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering with specialization in Farm Machinery and Power. She has worked for six years as a Junior Project Officer under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Ergonomics and Safety in Agriculture and Allied Sector (ESAAS), where she contributed to research on agricultural ergonomics, worker safety, and equipment design. Her doctoral research focuses on the measurement, modelling, and mitigation of emissions from livestock farms, along with assessing associated health risks and environmental impacts.

She completed her M.Tech. in Farm Machinery and Power Engineering and B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering, securing first position in both programs, reflecting her consistent academic excellence. During her B.Tech. she was awarded the Ishan Uday Scholarship by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for academic excellence. Her research integrates ergonomics, renewable energy, and farm mechanization to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.

Dr. Thokchom has been granted three utility patents in hill agriculture and holds several design registrations, showcasing her innovative approach to region-specific technological challenges. Her multidisciplinary expertise continues to contribute to the advancement of sustainable and safe agricultural engineering practices in India. Her dedication, qualifications and teaching abilities make her a valuable asset to GUNI-KKIASR.
