About Centre of Excellence:
This Center of Excellence is developed under Horticulture department, Government of Gujarat and is dedicated specifically for vegetables and citrus growing farmers of the State. Besides this, other horticultural crops, their demonstration will be done as and when needed. The CoE serves as demonstration and training centre for latest technologies in horticulture development. The centre also serves as a source of planting material for fruits and vegetable seedlings for protected cultivation. The CoE can be established only by public sector for which grant of Rs. 10.00 crore maximum is available under MIDH. The CoE can be established either with technology support from Indian R&D system or can be established through bilateral cooperation.
Activity Details:
We have scheduled a visit on February 27, 2023 for students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture. We were departure from university at 09:30 AM and reached to the destination at 10:30 AM. After reached Coe, Mr. Pratik A. Barot, Horticulture Supervisor, shared a excellent information about Centre of Excellence, Establishment of Coe with which mandate, current scenario of company, How it works?. Then students visited the demonstration plots of Citrus, pomegranate, Mosambi with Pratik Sir. He gave valuable information of different crops like citrus, pomegranate, mosambi. Also gave information of types of greenhouse, Hoe it works, Different vegetable seedling, Preparation of Bordeaux Mixture, information regarding propagation media. After visited different demonstration plots and green house, Mr. Vishalbhai N. Patel, project officer, gave a session in lecture hall to students. He took a session on establishment of Coe centre, its objectives, different project carried out in centre and gave other valuable and practical knowledge to the students.
